QUU to upgrade sewerage network for Fernvale, Lowood

Queensland Urban Utilities has revealed its plan to upgrade the sewerage network in Fernvale and Lowood.

The proposal includes building a new sewage treatment plant, two new sewage pump stations and a new sewer pipe.

QUU spokeswoman Michelle Cull said the upgrade would cater for development in the area.

"The new plant will cater for more than 8000 people, almost double the current capacity," Ms Cull said. "With more toilets flushing and showers running, it's essential the local sewerage network keeps up with demand.

"The proposed project includes installing up to 8km of pipe which will pump sewage from both Lowood and Fernvale to the new Lowood Sewage Treatment Plant."
