Reds fans show Cristiano Ronaldo plenty of respect for game

REAL Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (pictured) moved to within a single goal of the Champions League record of 70, held by Raul, after scoring in his team's 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Such was the quality of his performance, the former Manchester United player, who had not previously scored at the ground, was applauded by Liverpool fans when he was given an early shower in the 75th minute.

The Reds have just three points from three games in Group B - Real Madrid is on nine points.

Meanwhile, Arsenal consolidated second spot in Group D (on six points) after coming from behind to beat Anderlecht 2-1 in Brussels.

A second-half goal by Andy Najar put the Belgian champion ahead, before two goals in two minutes to Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski gave the Gunners victory.

In other results, Olympiakos surprised Italian champion Juventus 1-0.
