Big retailers on the way for Redbank Plains

FINAL preparations are under way for Redbank Plains' newest shopping precinct which will open its doors just in time for Christmas.

Hard working tradies have been applying the finishing touches in preparation for the grand opening of the new $155 million Town Square Redbank Plains shopping centre, set to be held this Wednesday.

The multi-million dollar development has expanded the centre from 6000sqm to a staggering 27,000sqm as well as providing an additional 1200 car parks.

The new-look shopping centre will unveil a unique design characterised by defined retailer precincts including casual dining, fast food, general retail and a health and lifestyle precinct as well as 60 speciality stores.

It will also bring a number of big retailers such as Woolworths, Coles, Target, KFC and Hungry Jacks.

Popular Japanese discount store Daiso will be one of the biggest international brands to feature at the centre.

The chain proudly opened its first Ipswich store at Town Square Redbank Plains on Saturday.

While many stores will open their doors to customers for the first time this week, there are a few that will open early next year.

They include Aldi and the hugely anticipated Pig 'N' Whistle pub.

Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale was given a behind-the-scenes look at the new Town Square on Friday.

Cr Pisasale said the new multi-million dollar centre was a big bonus for the suburb.

"I am just amazed by the growth that is happening in the Redbank Plains area," he said.

"What's great about this centre is it will be a real destination for locals to go and shop and dine."

The new Town Square has also created hundreds of job opportunities for locals.

"It's important to be creating jobs, jobs and more jobs in these fast growing centres," Cr Pisasale said.

To celebrate the grand opening, members of the Redbank Plains community are invited to attend a street party on Friday, December 16 from 4.30-7.30pm. There will be live entertainment, an animal farm, jumping castle, face painters, giant slide, prizes and a fireworks display. Town Square Redbank Plains is located at 357-403 Redbank Plains Rd, Redbank Plains.
