Red-bellied black snake evicted from bottleshop
A VICTORY Hotel worker had a surprise greeting on Monday morning thanks to an adventurous red-bellied black snake.
William Pledger of William Pledger's Wildlife Management Service received the call-out to deal with the unwanted slippery customer.
The Victory Hotel worker was opening the bottleshop for the day's trading when he came face-to-face with the snake.
"When (the worker) went to open the roller door, he noticed something slide under the counter," Mr Pledger said.
"Suspecting it was a snake, he went straight to the office where they called (me)."
Mr Pledger arrived shortly afterwards and did a sweeping search of the area.
The search located a two-foot red-bellied black snake taking refuge behind some cartons of beer.
"The snake was evicted and taken to a more suitable location," Mr Pledger said.
