Recycled Marcia is turning heads

A NEW addition to the Ipswich Central Library foyer is turning heads for all the right reasons.

Marcia the mannequin is proudly on display wearing a dress of 2500 paper flowers made entirely from recycled books which have been deleted from the Ipswich Library.

Ipswich City Council Tourism and Libraries Committee Chairperson Councillor David Pahlke said the display aimed to show recycling in a different light.

"The dress is made from recycled books and highlighting that information, ideas and stories contained in books can be recycled many times over," he said.

"The striking display was created by Library Community Relations Officer Michelle Abkin and I congratulate her on her creativity.

"I encourage everyone to take the time to visit the library and see this amazing display close up."

Marcia will be on display at Ipswich Central Library until the end of July.
