Rebuilding seminars for public

PUBLIC Works Minister Robert Schwarten has encouraged contractors and home owners to attend a flood rebuilding information seminar at the Gatton RSL on February 15.

The Building Services Authority, in conjunction with building industry groups, is running seminars and information sessions in flood-affected areas across the state.

In addition to the seminar, BSA staff will be at Gatton Plaza to answer questions from the public on February 11-12.

Mr Schwarten said the seminars would provide critical information to contractors and to homeowners on repairing or rebuilding homes.

The seminars will cover topics such as when repair work should start, choosing a contractor and the importance of this contractor to be licensed, dealing with asbestos and building planning and approval.

The contractor session will run from 4pm to 5.30pm and the home owners’ session at 6pm-8pm.

To attend the seminar, contact bsaseminars@bsa.qld.gov.au or phone 1300 272 272.
