REGARDING Division 3 Candidate Jim Dodrill.
I am writing to you to express my concern about Jim Dodrill as a candidate in the upcoming local election.
I will say up front that I am not aligned with any of the candidates or anyone that supports them, and I am not a member of any political party.
My concern is with Mr Dodrill, and the lack of scrutiny around his recent change of attitude towards the local dump and the company that runs it (Transpacific now Cleanaway).
For the last five years, Jim Dodrill and his IRATE group have been running this well-publicised scare campaign against the local dump and the company that runs it.
The campaign has been targeted at the suburbs in Division 3, like Collingwood Park where I live.
Through his community meetings, his rallies, and his media and online campaign, he has been scaring the living daylights out of us since the last council election.
He has been telling us for years that there are poisons in the dump that will harm our health; that these same poisons are turning the local environment and waterways toxic; that Cleanaway/Transpacific are an evil company that cannot be trusted to do the right thing by us; and that the Council wasn't protecting us.
After hearing all this it has been hard not to be worried about the health of my family, or the environment surrounding my house.
Furthermore, my property value, along with everyone else's in the area, has been affected by this campaign.
Imagine my surprise then, when I discovered that Ipswich Karate Association, a club is heavily associated with, accepted donations from Cleanaway - the same company he has been campaigning against.
Apparently he has been saying it wasn't his decision.
If that isn't bad enough, I found your story published on 11/02/16 on Jim Dodrill.
After telling us how the local environment and waterways will be poisoned by the Cleanaway dump, he now wants to turn that same "poisoned" environment into a Water Park for our kids.
How is he allowed to get away with this?
Surely after scaring us all for the last four years he can't now get away with this kind of hypocrisy?
