Wet weather on the way for Ipswich

RAIN is forecast for most areas of Queensland today as summer conditions settle in.

Meteorologist Dean Narramore said the forecast indicated rain for the south-east, however, things were expected to dry up by the afternoon.

The Ipswich area is looking at receiving anything up to 25mm.

Saturday is expected to usher in an initially sunny weekend - with the possibility of an afternoon shower or storm across much of the state.

Sunday is expected to bring showers and storms to the northern and central interior of the state while the south-west and south-east enjoy a fine day.

"It's pretty much always going to rain somewhere this time of year," Mr Narramore said, adding the rainfall averages for December were certainly not near been broken yet.

The best news out of the forecast for Ipswich residents is the predicted drop in temperature.

After a long spell of days in the mid-to-high 30s, the mercury is expected to dip down to 27 on Saturday and 28 on Sunday. Today's top should be in the low 30s.
