Rain forces closure of roads

MOTORISTS are experiencing a frustrating Monday with rain causing the closure of a number of roads in the Ipswich region.

Colleges Crossing is closed and the Mt Crosby Weir between Allawah Road and Stumers Road Mt Crosby is closed due to water releases from the Wivenhoe Dam.

The nearest crossing for motorists is the Centenary Bridge at Jindalee.

The Kholo Bridge and Moggill Ferry are also closed due to Wivenhoe releases while parts of the Warrego Highway near Helidon are damaged, causing lane closures.

According to the Ipswich City Council's last update, the following roads are currently closed:

  • Ivan Lane, Ironbark 
  • Schultzs Road, Ironbark
  • Kalabar Road, Haigslea
  • Ebenezer Road
  • Rosewood-Warrill View Road, Rosewood
  • Rosewood-Laidley Road, Grandchester
  • Strongs Bridge
  • 5 Mile Bridge
