Race 11 win for Davison in V8s
WILL Davison has bounced back from Saturday's crash to take out race 11 of the V8 Supercars series at Phillip Island yesterday.
The Falcon driver opted for a two-stop strategy in the 45-lap race, holding off a fast-finishing Craig Lowndes to claim his sixth win of the season.
It also gave Davison back the overall lead in the series, 10 points ahead of Jamie Whincup.
Davison said he was thrilled to have a change of fortunes after Saturday's multi-car accident that wiped out both himself and Whincup, that race taken out by Mark Winterbottom.
"When I saw Lowndes get by (Jason) Bright I was pretty nervous," Davison said. "I was down last night ... I didn't enjoy yesterday. I'm stoked with this one today."
Lowndes was again the unlucky driver yesterday.
After starting on pole he stalled on the grid, then had to queue up behind Whincup in the pits.
Bright went for an ambitious one-stop strategy in his Commodore and led for a long way, eventually finishing third, his best race result at Phillip Island since 2003.
Shane van Gisbergen passed Whincup late to take fourth, with Winterbottom taking sixth.
