Quins mum: 'Hey Miranda Kerr, want to wife-swap with me?'
MIRANDA Kerr has recently said that women should make more of an effort to look good for their husbands when they get home from work, I barely manage to have a shower and brush my hair these days let alone look or feel human.
Make an effort to look perfect for my husband? I've got eight kids lady, getting out of bed is an effort.
How on earth do these celebs look so perfect while us regular mums can sometimes feel like every year of motherhood leaves us looking like we are falling apart at the seams?
I was once that mum...
I would wake up extra early to make sure my hair was straightened, my makeup was on point and I had that gleam in my eye and spring in my step for a new day. These days I look pretty dishevelled not just in the morning but all day, some may even liken my appearance to a homeless person.
My husband said I'm the old lady who lived in a shoe - you know, the one with so many children, she didn't know what to do! Flattery at its finest don't you think? Let's just hope my children don't learn that nursery rhyme.
I have become jealous of the mums who look so lovely and have the time to just shower and blow-dry their hair. Enjoy those small moments, because one day this will be a huge achievement if you go on to having a large family.
Yesterday I did something I thought I would never do in my journey through parenthood. We have the quintuplets home from daycare with chest infections, Indi is home due to a recent surgery and I still needed to get Aiva to school. I loaded everyone up in the car and I ran Aiva to the gate (with the van in sight) in my PJ pants and my husband's 10-year-old shirt - I didn't even have time to put a bra on that morning.
As I was walking I realised I also broke one of the biggest rules in fashion and was wearing socks with sandals!
How are they doing it?!
We see these gorgeous celebs that looks absolutely flawless like they were born to be mothers, you know the type that seem to just take it all in their stride. Rebecca Judd went through a twin pregnancy looking like some goddess out of a movie.
Then we are all too familiar the the other celebrities that like to post their body transformations on social media after pregnancy when they are like only five days postpartum, what kind of sorcery is this?
When was the last time you saw one of these A-lister share a photo with a belly full of stretch marks? I think we need to ask the question, are they even human? There is just too much perfection going on, I will openly admit I am jealous and I want to join their club!
Now I have always been a huge fan of Miranda, but something has got to give? I spend most of my days running around after everyone else and the last thing I want to feel guilty about is not making an effort for my husband. I make a huge effort keeping the house clean, making sure we have clean washing, cooked meals and not to mention the list of ten thousand other things I need to do on the daily!
Looking good in my relationship was always a top priority until I became a mother of eight. Unless I was superwoman I don't think it's possible to make that effort every day of the week. It's puts unrealistic expectations on women when at the end of the day we have enough pressures from society on what we must conform to.
I want my daughters not to feel the pressure of prioritising their life's around looking good for anyone else other than themselves.
Priorities need to change and right now that's me giving what little time I do have to my children and making sure everyone else is taken care of. One day I hope to be that mum who looks amazing again but for now I'm happy to settle with my present and look forward to the future.
...I wonder if Miranda would do a two week wife swap with me?
