  • BOXING: Check out  tonight's Corporate Combat fight night at the Ipswich Civic Centre if you can still get a ticket. A number of Ipswich fighters are on the card.
  • CRICKET: New  rounds of play start tomorrow in the Brisbane grade and Ipswich and West Moreton division 1 competitions. The Ipswich Hornets play Wests at Baxter Oval in the representative game. Wests still retain a number of Ipswich raised players in their ranks. In the local competition, Swifts face Central Districts at Ivor Marsden 4, leaders Laidley meet Brothers at Bichel Oval and Thunder challenge Northsiders at Tivoli 1.
  • GREYHOUND RACING: The annual City of Ipswich Gold Cup final is being run at the Ipswich Showgrounds tomorrow night with a wide open field contesting the main race at 8.25pm. Winning connections will pocket $31,500. The first of 10 races is at 6.04pm.
  • MOTORSPORT: The usual feast of weekend action at the Ipswich Motorsport Precinct fires up with the Friday Night Drifts at Queensland Raceway. Saturday action includes a Test N Tune at Willowbank Raceway, along with a Moto Ride Day and Madaz burnouts at Queensland Raceway on Saturday. Sunday features the QR FX Motorcycle Championship at Queensland Raceway.
  • VIGORO: Five Ipswich teams open their representative campaigns against Fassifern at Boonah tomorrow. Matches start at 9.30am at Coronation Park with the Senior 2, Under 18 and 13 and under encounters. The Senior 1 and Veterans matches are scheduled for 1pm.
  • BASEBALL: The  Ipswich Musketeers are hoping to retain top spot in the Brisbane Major League by beating Pine Hills in Sunday afternoon's doubleheader at the Tivoli Sporting Complex.
