QT City of Ipswich Sports Awards - Lifetime Achievement Award

Gail has been involved with netball in Ipswich for 49 years as a player, umpire, coach and administrator.  Her love for and commitment to netball began back when as a child and her mother was President of the association, the Lyne family would mow the grass courts and then mark them with lime or sump oil ready for Saturday games.

Some of Gail's many achievements over the years have included:

·       Starting the Fun Net program in Ipswich in 1995 for 5-7 year olds

·       Founding the Ipswich Flyers in 1994 - the Flyers have gone on to become one of the most successful regional netball teams in Queensland

·       In 2000 overseeing the building of the Beryl Lyne Netball Facility.  Gail has continued to work tirelessly to ensure the facility is upgraded and developed to ensure the best possible facilities for the town's netballers

·       Researching and writing the History of Ipswich Netball from 1920 - present

·       Hosting many State Age Championships in Ipswich - in 2004 winning the "Event of the Year Award"

·       Gail is a Life Member of the Ipswich Netball Association and in 2006 received the Netball Queensland President's Award for "Outstanding Achievement in Netball"

Gail has overseen a huge growth in netball in Ipswich and it continues to go from strength to strength.  Gail has a real passion for the game, which rubs off on everyone involved.
