QUEENSLAND has shared the record for the biggest drop in unemployment in the country, as recruitment gets underway for new projects including the $150 million Brisbane Airport Hotel Group's development.

ABS figures released yesterday revealed that an additional 16,700 people were employed in Queensland in August, with the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate falling from 6.2 per cent to 5.7 per cent.

The result is shared with South Australia and is just above the national rate of 5.6 per cent, which remained steady.

Brisbane Airport Hotel Group's Scott and Anthony Flynn have been recruiting up to 200 staff to work at their soon-to-completed project, which comprises a 5-star Pullman hotel, 3.5-star Ibis hotel and Brisbane Airport Conference Centre.
