Push on for rep expansion

TENNIS Ipswich president David Glinster hopes to build on competition like Sunday's annual Thompson/Alder Cup match for under-18 and senior players.

Ipswich are defending champions for Sunday's tournament in Toowoomba.

Josh Elkington, Jane Marning and Elizabeth Ploetz were added to the teams named in yesterday's QT.

"Toowoomba's open team should be extremely strong, especially the men," Glinster said.

Glinster hopes the Ipswich representative program can be expanded next year to include Brisbane teams.

"It would be a similar format to the Perrett Shield (for juniors)," he said. "We need more of that where our rep players can get something back.

"After this AGM (on November 10), next year will be bigger and better as things are in place now."
