Proud family defence tradition makes Anzac Day special

ANZAC Day carries special meaning for Marjorie Fraser.

The Sadliers Crossing resident was a member of the nursing corps and is part of a family that has served the Defence Force for generations.

The connection includes her uncle Ernest Brown, who was killed in action in the Second World War and is buried in Papua New Guinea.

It also includes her sister, brother-in-law and their daughter, as well as Marjorie's two brothers and a sister, Norma Hoffmann, who was in the land army.

Anzac Day is so important to Mrs Fraser that she'll march come rain, hail or shine.

Several years ago she even defied injuries that left her hospital-bound to march.

She organised for a wheel chair and got her daughter to push her up the street.

"I will be going to the Brisbane Anzac Day ceremony this year - my daughter still comes down with me," Mrs Fraser said.

"I always enjoy Anzac Day, even when I'm sick."
