Private hospital plans thrill Brookwater residents
BROOKWATER residents have welcomed the announcement of the 80-bed, $85 million Mater Private Hospital Springfield, adding to the region's growing health care services.
The announcement by Mater Heath Services late last month follows the opening of the Mater Health Centre in the new Brookwater Village Shopping Centre earlier this year.
Brookwater resident and midwife Elaine Batiste said she was thrilled about what the new hospital would mean for the Greater Springfield region.
"As a resident who has invested in Brookwater, and as a mother with young children, I am extremely pleased to see that the Mater has committed to the provision of health care services in this fast-growing region," Mrs Batiste said.
"I am also a registered nurse and a midwife and have a keen interest in health promotion, so it is exciting to see the growth of health services in our local community."
The Mater Private Hospital will be in Health City, Springfield Central and will offer a combination of in-patient, day and chemotherapy beds and will be supported by Federal Government funding of $21.4 million for the cancer care centre.
Stage one is due to start in August.
