Prisoner charged with murdering inmates in 1990s

A WACOL prisoner will face court next month charged with murdering two fellow inmates in the 1990s.

Terry James Freeman, 41, was charged this month with murdering Jason Lee Evans in the Brisbane Correctional Centre, formerly known as Sir David Longland Correctional Centre, on February 1, 1995.

Mr Freeman is in custody and did not appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday when Legal Aid represented him.

He is also accused of murdering another inmate, Clayton Joseph McFadzean, in March 23, 1998.

The murder charge for Evans' death was adjourned to November 3 to coincide with the other murder charge to come before the court.

Queensland police re-opened the case into Evans' death in the early 2000s as part of an operation investigating a dozen suspicious deaths in custody after 1994.
