Prepare for possible flooding

THE Ipswich SES is helping people prepare for the possibility of flooding this afternoon.

Area director Arie van den Ende said the city was saturated but not as flooded as its western neighbours.

"Most of our issues are with flooding on the edge of roads and some bridges," Mr van den Ende said.

"We haven't had any creek flooding yet.

"But if we get 200mm in the Bundamba Creek catchment we'll have problems."

He said SES crews were helping supply people in Ipswich with sandbags from its Thorn Street depot in case there was more serious flooding.
