THE two in-form teams of the Ipswich competition will go head-to-head on Sunday at Hayes Oval.

Reigning premiers and current ladder leaders Goodna will be out for revenge against Fassifern after the Bombers handed them their only loss at home this season.

Fassifern are also looking for retribution after a disappointing loss to Brothers last week, just their second defeat of the year.

"Brothers turned up to play and got the better of us,” Fassifern coach Daniel Roos said.

"I think it shows you how close the competition is. It comes down to whoever turns up the most hungry to win.”

Eager to turn around last weekend's result, Roos said he expected an even bigger test against the Eagles.

"They'll be out to make amends for us beating them at their home,” he said.

"We are expecting a completely different game against Goodna who are in a similar position to us with only two losses so far. It's good to see where you are at playing against the top team.”

With a renewed focus at training this week, Roos was confident even the weather couldn't get in the way of an improved performance from the Bombers.

A bye next week looms as extra motivation after two tough tests against Brothers and the Eagles.

"We had the best training sessions we've had in a while,” he said. "The effort has always been there it's just about having the right attitude.

"We spoke about having the right mental attitude and everyone responded to that really well. We've got two really hard games in a row and then we get to have a bit of a rest.”

Sunday shapes as a bumper day of rugby league, with Brothers playing hosts to Swifts and Norths travelling away against the Eastern Cobras.

All three games start from 3pm.

The Tigers, Brothers and Swifts are all locked on 18 points and three wins apiece. The Eagles are two points clear on the top of the A Grade ladder, with Fassifern and the Eastern Cobras lagging behind the top group but with a game in hand.

The catch-up games is scheduled for the Ipswich Cup weekend.
