Praise for Colinton Boys Book honouring soldiers of WWI

Brisbane Valley Heritage Trails Inc and author Elizabeth DeLacy's Colinton Boys Book, which captures the stories of local men who served in World War I, has received high praise from Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann.

Mr Neumann said during World War I there were 42 volunteers from Colinton who enlisted to serve Australia's interests abroad.

"Many of these men were born in the late 1800s and despite their names bring recognised on the Colinton War Memorial, their stories risked being lost as our community aged.

"It's important that we pass down our local history to the next generation and the Colinton Boys book ensures that 'our boys' stories have been preserved for future generations.

"I was proud to deliver $2,633 from the Blair ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program to support the Colinton Boys book.

"It has been reported that the Colinton monument was the first monument in Queensland erected outside of a cemetery and now the Colinton Boys Book will tell their story."
