Power cuts to Ipswich CBD under way

11.20pm: ENERGEX has started cutting power to parts of the Ipswich CBD from 11pm tonight in preparation for rising floodwaters.

Power is being progressively cut to protect life and property.

Due to the scale of the de-energisations, customers will not receive personal notification.

In some cases power may be out for many hours at a minimum, depending on the damage floods may inflict on the electricity network.

Energex is also urging people with medical conditions who rely on electrical-powered equipment, as well as refrigerated medications, to keep in close contact with their medical practitioner and seek advice.

Energex appreciates the patience of customers during this natural disaster.
