Police urged off Facebook

QUEENSLAND police are being urged to delete their Facebook accounts, with the police union warning officers could be spied on, stalked and put friends at risk of charges if they failed to report inappropriate posts.

The Queensland Police Service has confirmed a number of officers are currently under investigation because of posts made on the social networking site, and three police officers have to date faced disciplinary action over their Facebook pages.

A spokesman said the Queensland Police Service had stopped short of telling officers to delete their Facebook pages. The union has taken a different view.
