Police seek accident witnesses

POLICE are still calling for information about a cast-iron cherub statue that is believed to have caused a freak road crash that killed a Lowood teenager.

Candice Mangan, 18, was killed instantly when the Holden Commodore in which she was a passenger struck the garden statue that was lying in the middle of the west-bound lanes of the Warrego Highway at Haigslea.

Police have not been able to confirm if the garden ornament was on or beside the road, if it was placed on the highway as a prank or had fallen of the back of a vehicle in transit.

Police are appealing for the owners of the statue, anyone who may recognise it or who may have seen it on the highway near Malabar Road on Monday, December 27, about 2pm to phone 1800 333 000.
