Police raid targets bikie drug trafficking

QUEENSLAND Police are executing search warrants in Biloela, Bundaberg and Maryborough this morning as part of a joint operation into drug trafficking by bikie gangs.

Police and Queensland Corrective Services officers also are at addresses in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and a Queensland Correctional Centre.

The raid is the culmination of Operation Mike Clyde, a three-month joint drug trafficking investigation which focused on members and associates of the Mongols and Bandido Criminal Motorcycle Gangs.

Officers from Taskforce Maxima, the Corrective Services Investigation Unit and QCS, supported by the QCS Intelligence Group, collaborated to identify drug trafficking syndicates and prevent dangerous drugs from entering the prison system.

A number of people, including prison inmates, were arrested on Wednesday night and this morning, and will be charged with serious drug trafficking offences.

It will be alleged that those arrested trafficked methylamphetamine (ice), cannabis and buprenorphine.
