Teens charged with theft after crash

POLICE have charged three teenagers with stealing a car and then crashing during a joyride through Ipswich.

The dog squad was called in early Friday morning after a stolen Holden Commodore crashed on the intersection of North Station Rd and Jacaranda St about 6am.

The occupants of the vehicle ran away but the police dog was able to lead officers to a house in Nimmo St, Booval, not far from the scene of the crash.

A 17-year-old and two 16-year-old juveniles were taken away for questioning and later charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of unlawful entry of motor vehicles.

All three will appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
