Police in pursuit of stolen car

UPDATE 5:28 pm: One of the occupants of the white BMW involved in a two-hour police chase through Brisbane has been arrested.

Journalists on the ground at the Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre in West Brisbane are reporting that at least one of the drivers involved in the chase has been arrested and is in police custody.

The chase started in south Brisbane at 3:30pm and led to the car park of the suburban shopping centre followed by police dogs and officers.

 

A POLICE chase involving two BMW's has turned into a foot chase in Brisbane's west.

At 3:30pm today, police gave chase to a suspected stolen BMW X5 in south Brisbane.

A police helicopter joined the pursuit, which has gone throughout south Brisbane and the outskirts of the CBD.

A black BMW was seen to join in the chase at 4:30pm and it seemed to be leading the white BMW through the streets of Taringa.

Channel 7, 9 and 10 have helicopters in the air tracking the chase and are providing updates via Twitter.

Channel 7 News tweeted at 5:08pm that the suspected stolen vehicles entered the Mt Omaney shopping centre and police have blocked the exits.

The dog squad has been deployed to find people from the white BMW, another tweet read.

There are reports the cars are was in connection with a spate of ram raids and robberies in South East Queensland, including on the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Brisbane and Gold Coast.
