Police operation nets driving offenders

A NUMBER of motorists have been fined and charged with various traffic offences following a two-day police operation.

Police from the Ipswich and Logan police conducted traffic enforcement at a static interception site on Beaudesert-Boonah Rd in Wyaralong last weekend as part of Operation North Lonecreek.

During the operation 1729 vehicles were pulled over.

Each driver was breath tested and checks were conducted on their drivers licence and the registration of the vehicles.

As a result, two drink drivers were charged as well as a disqualified driver who was also arrested for being in possession of a dangerous drug and drug utensils.

A further person was also arrested after it was identified he was wanted on a warrant.

A number of traffic infringement notices were also issued to drivers for defective vehicles, insecure loads, speeding and failing to wear a seatbelt.
