Police charge 28 Bandidos members following raids

POLICE have fractured the Brisbane arm of the Bandidos bikie gang after arresting 28 members and associates, including the national Sergeant at Arms.

Following an 11-month operation and a succession of raids in Ipswich, Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, police revealed on Tuesday they had charged 28 people with 151 offences.

Five bikie members or associates, including the Bandidos national Sergeant at Arms, have been charged with drug trafficking and production.

Metro North regional crime coordinator Acting Detective Superintendent Tony Duncan said others were charged with grievous bodily harm, drug production, supply, possession of fire arm and taser offences.

"There were also a number of addresses that had amounts of money that was located and also drugs seized," he said.

As a result of the raids police seized MDMA, cannabis and methylamphetamine.

Det Supt Duncan said the amount of drugs seized was still being counted.

He said the raids targeted bikie members and associates' homes not clubhouses.

"Its significant in that it identified six of the members of the Brisbane chapter of the Bandidos and those members were all charged today," he said.

"Anything that can disrupt organised crime is always pleasing and strategies that can be put in place to disrupt the distribution of drugs."

People arrested will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
