Police catch up with alleged speedster

A MAN wanted over a high-range speeding and evade police incident from New Year's Eve has been taken to hospital following an incident at Chuwar.

Police from Taskforce Maxima were called to a house in Coal Rd, Chuwar Tuesday night.

The suspect vehicle was spotted travelling east on the Ipswich Motorway on December 31 at 4.10pm, allegedly clocked at 149kmh.

Police will alleged that crews tried to intercept the vehicle at the time, but it sped away.

Officers from Taskforce Maxima attended the Chuwar property about 6pm Tuesday to follow up on the matter, issuing the man with a notice to appear in court on charges of evade police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and high-range speeding.

While police were present, the man sustained some self-inflicted injuries and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

The vehicle will be impounded for 90 days under anti-hooning legislation.
