Plenty of votes to count yet for Hinkler electorate

MORE than 76,000 votes have been counted in Hinkler, but with 94,348 enrolled voters in the electorate, the Australian Electoral Commission still has more work to do.

AEC assistant director Greg Doolan said no declaration would be made until there was mathematically no chance of the margin between the two leading candidates being overhauled.

He said they could not give specific timing for the when the seat of Hinkler would be declared.

"Over the coming days you can expect that more postal and declaration votes ... will be counted," Mr Doolan said.

Hinkler votes still to be counted include absent, provisional and pre-poll votes cast outside of the division boundaries.
