Pizza delivery driver attacked in Leichhardt robbery

A PIZZA delivery driver was attacked with a piece of timber with nails in it during a robbery in Leichhardt overnight.

Police said the driver was called to a house in Eyre St about 10.05pm, where he was confronted by a man who demanded money while brandishing the offending piece of wood.

The driver dropped the cash float and pizza order at the man's feet and left, only to be struck in the leg with the weapon before he got back to his car.

He sustained a small puncture wound.

Police are yet to provide a description of the robber.
