Steve Jones a wonderful and caring man: Pisasale

IPSWICH Mayor Paul Pisasale has said he will always remember his friend and fellow colleague Steve Jones as a wonderful and caring man who put the needs of the Lockyer Valley first.

Cr Pisasale was with Cr Jones when he suffered a stroke while attending a meeting in Ipswich with other regional leaders on Thursday.

The QT was also present during that meeting.

"He was a great man ... a great family man and a great mayor for the Lockyer Valley," Cr Pisasale said.

"I have known him since the day he first became Mayor, and he was the type of man that would never let anything get in the way of him helping the people of the Lockyer Valley.

"His beautiful, colourful language helped him to make sure his voice and his message got across.

"I was so honoured to share his last moment with him.

"I would like people to honour Steve's life and thank him for the time and the sacrifice he gave to his community."

Cr Pisasale said he had been talking to Cr Jones about going out with their families after the election for some quiet time.
