Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch detective senior sergeant Luke Peachey said the lab was not cooking at the time it was discovered.

He said police will allege it has produced the "dangerous drug ice" in the past.

Police cannot search the property until the specialist officers from Brisbane arrive and charges won't be laid until the unit has been searched.

But she wasn't certain it was coming from the same apartment.
