PHOTO ESSAY: Behind the scenes Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge

OUR four-legged friends are very special to us, but sadly not all cats and dogs are lucky enough to have a home.

Daily photographer Brett Wortman spent the day at the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge recently to discover just how many animals are looking for their forever homes.

The refuge has a no-kill policy and take in surrendered as well as pound cats and dogs.

He discovered the refuge, manned mostly by volunteers, is more than just cuddles with cats and dogs, but a lot of hard work too.

Check out life at the refuge in pictures.
