Peter Wallace to lead Panthers forward

THE question mark hanging over Penrith's captaincy is gone with Anthony Griffin naming veteran Peter Wallace as the man to succeed Matt Moylan.

Moylan had been viewed as a long term captain for the Panthers before his departure to the Cronulla Sharks at the end of 2017.

Now Wallace, an experienced campaigner of more than 230 NRL matches, will step in to lead Penrith's 2018 season.

Griffin made the announcement this morning.

Wallace, 32, began his career with the Panthers in 2005 before linking with the Broncos in 2008.

He spent six season with the Queensland outfit before returning to the Panthers in 2014.

It is believed Trent Merrin was also considered for the captaincy role before Griffin opted to go with Wallace.
