Joel Parkinson wins Oakley Pro in Bali

COOLANGATTA surfer Joel Parkinson scored a perfect 10 out of 10 for two rides in the fifth round of the Oakley Pro in Bali yesterday before taking out first place in the event today.

Australian surfers dominated the finals line up with Taj Burrow, Josh Kerr, Julian Wilson, Mick Fanning, and Parkinson all contending the quarter finals.

Parkinson took out the final in heart-stopping fashion, defeating his Tahitian opponent Michel Bourez with a winning wave in the dying minutes of the heat.

The result will put Parkinson back on track for a second consecutive World Series title.
