Pedophile back in jail
PEDOPHILE Roy Friend has been returned to jail after a court heard allegations he tried to groom a 15-year-old boy in Goodna a month after being placed under a supervision order.
In the Court of Appeal, Justice Margaret White said Friend, who had a long history of offences against teenage boys, was released on a Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act supervision order last November.
She said it was now alleged Friend breached his order several times by visiting a store in Goodna last December and in January.
Friend allegedly spoke with a 15-year-old male shop assistant and gave him his phone number.
Justice White said there had been no further contact until a worrying incident in April.
She said the boy was walking along a road when Friend allegedly pulled up in a car and started talking with him.
There were further allegations that Friend asked the boy if he wanted a lift and then he got out of the car and showed him a stab wound on his body.
