Party for facility’s anniversary

BLUE Care Alkira Aged Care Facility is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary in style with a garden party for staff, friends, families and the general public.

The party from 9am on September 20 will include entertainment by local artists, food, craft and plant stalls, a flower show and the unveiling of a plaque by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington.

The event will be a great opportunity for the public to learn about the services Blue Care Alkira provides and for current and former staff and residents to reflect on its rich history.

Service manager Peter Conaghan said the anniversary was an exciting event for those who had been involved with Alkira and its services.

"We're excited to invite the public in for this momentous event," Mr Conaghan said.

"We've had a lot of staff and residents come through the facility in the past 25 years so it's great to remember all the good times. One of our staff members has been at Alkira for almost 24 years, and we've had a few who left and came back to us too.

"The 25th anniversary is an important milestone for the community. A lot of locals worked hard and did a lot of fundraising to get Alkira going. We're thrilled to have our Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington unveil the commemorative plaque too."

Blue Care Alkira Aged Care Facility also has retirement living options at the same site. The retirement village has 14 single-level, self-contained two bedroom units in a community setting.

The secure, low maintenance independent living environment allows residents to maintain freedom and manage the retirement lifestyle.
