Paramedics treat boy after suspected jellyfish sting
A BOY has been taken to hospital after he was reportedly stung by a jellyfish at Shoal Point.
Paramedics were called to the beach at 4.25pm to help the 11-year-old who believed he'd been stung, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.
He was taken to Mackay Base Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said at 6pm the boy was being treated in the emergency department.
Mackay region beaches remained closed on Sunday, after multiple box jellyfish were caught during stinger drags.
At least one beach, Eimeo, will remain closed on Monday after a box jellyfish was caught at 1.30pm. on Sunday.
Drags will be performed at Mackay region beaches tomorrow morning and it's likely beaches will be off limits.
