Pair suspected of Coast crime spree arrested at Coffs

TWO men believed to be part of a group that dumped a stolen car at Caloundra last week before evading police by catching a series of buses have been arrested by NSW police in Coffs Harbour.

NSW Police yesterday announced they had charged two men with break and enter and car theft.

One of them is also facing driving charges after he fled police at more than 45kmh over the speed limit, including refusing to stop for police. This is also known in NSW as "Skye's Law".

The law is named for toddler Skye Sassine who died in 2009 when a man suspected of an armed robbery crashed into her parent's car and killed her while trying to escape police.

The men are believed to be from a group, two men and a woman, that Sunshine Coast police had been hunting over a series of driving, car theft and burglary offences between Gympie and the Coast.

That included dangerously driving a Toyota Corolla at Caloundra on Thursday.

The men dumped the car at Moffat Beach before eluding police on a series of buses.

The men were expected to face Coffs Harbour Local Court yesterday.
