Couple didn’t know of $1.3m win

A SUNSHINE Coast couple spent six days oblivious to the fact they'd become millionaires before Golden Casket officials tracked them down.

The unnamed pair won the big prize in Saturday Gold Lotto on July 12 but didn't respond to missed phone calls. When they did finally answer after six days, they were shocked to learn they were $1,385,235.16 richer.

"I'll remember to answer for next time," one of the winners joked when a Golden Casket official was finally able to speak with him.

"Winning division one still feels so unreal to us. My wife and I keep looking at each other and saying this can't be true!

"There's been a standing joke between us for years - my wife has always said to me that I'll never win and I've always replied that one day I will. I think I've had the last laugh!"

The new millionaires, who wish to remain anonymous, said they wanted to share their windfall with family.

The winning entry was bought at Nextra Caloundra in Stockland Shopping Centre.

It's the second big win there. It sold a $15 million division one OzLotto winning ticket on February 4.
