LETTERS: Paid parking now means you can actually get a park
JUST a comment re the letter a few days ago complaining about the paid parking in the CBD.
We have found that since the new rules with the first three hours free was introduced, we go into town more often because you can actually get a park under the mall.
It has made a big difference, along with the extra parking the council provided for commuters and workers.
Three hours is plenty for us to do our stuff, shopping, have a coffee etc.
We are also happy with the meters in the streets near St Andrew's Hospital and the specialists' precinct there.
It is not too expensive and you can now get a park in close proximity when you certainly couldn't before.
We think the council has done the best they can under the circumstances, so good on them.
The council had to do something and we think they came up with a good solution.
No matter what they do, they will never please everyone.
