Out of control party shut down at Berserker

POLICE were forced to shut down an out of control party after a large group of drunken teens where involved in fights at a party and refused to leave.

Around 11pm police were called to the Rodboro Street house after reports of numerous people fighting at the party.

Uniform and plain clothes officers stopped the fights and dispersed the large crowd.

Police continued to maintain an active presence in the area for over an hour while the crowd, estimated to be over 150 young people left the area.

Six local teenagers were arrested for various offences from public nuisance to willful damage.

Seven were given tickets ranging from $112 to $341 for liquor offences.

No complaints of assault were made to police.

Senior Sergeant Derek Pickless said police are happy to support people responsibly organising a party and registering through the party safe program.

"People need to plan and consider the consequences of having an open party advertised on social media," Senior Sergeant Pickless said.

"We were fortunate in this case that no one appears to have been seriously injured however hopefully both organisers and people attending the party will think before they party in the future."

Investigations are continuing.
