OUR SAY: Opportunities abound as mining expo digs in

THE Surat Basin Energy and Mining Expo which kicks off today is graphic evidence of the prosperity we are so fortunate to enjoy in this region.

While coal mining is struggling in some areas of the state, that is not the case in and around Toowoomba with both coal and coal seam gas reaching new levels of production.

The evidence of the strength of the region can be seen by the significant players in the industry who will attend the two-day event at the showgrounds.

There are more than 200 exhibitors registered.

They will give businesses the latest technology and products available.

Businesses from here and further afield will be looking at ways to tap into the supply chain.

The Queensland Gasfields Commission will be onsite, available to share their extensive knowledge to exhibitors.

It will be two days of opportunities. Hopefully our businesses will make the most of the expo.
