OPINION: Holiday season hits the track at Willowbank
IT'S A new year and with a new year comes more motorsport.
I can't wait to get back into it after having some time off over Christmas. I've already got my V8 Experience booked for January (the kids got the hint). I'm revving, ready to go for nine laps in my choice of either a Holden or Ford on the Queensland Raceway track. But once I've gotten out of the hot seat there's still plenty coming up at Queensland Raceway to watch and enjoy from the sideline.
Supercars, Shannons Nationals, 24 hours of Lemons, Superbikes and more, oh boy and that's not even the half of it! There's three QRDC rounds and the Ipswich Festival of Cars - featuring the Willowbank 300, 2 Days of Thunder with a Nissan tribute and the Ipswich Classic.
Oh and the FX Club rounds and 2 Matsuri's and well, I could go on but I don't think I'm going to be home very much in 2017.
There's plenty of recreational events at Queensland Raceways over 2017 as well, with Friday Night Drifts, GEAR, Ride days and Roll Racing Brisbane.
Speaking of Roll Racing Brisbane, it's back next week and I can't wait.
It's an awesome night with a great atmosphere, it's great watching everyone get out on track and race down the front straight, what a feeling.
It's always a surprise what kind of cars turn up to roll racing from super cars to Evos and Commodores.
This week will be massive at Willowbank Raceway as well, with the Outlaw Armageddon series and Larry Larson taking on local competitors in his own cars.
Larson bought over two of his Chevys from the US and is dragging competitors that qualified for the event in November.
It kicked off on December 30, and will continue on January 1 and 4.
It's the holiday season, and the best place to spend some time off is definitely at the Ipswich Motorsport Precinct.
