OPINION: Australia, it's time to give other batsmen a go

SURELY now the Australian cricket selectors need to look again for a number six batsman following Nic Maddinson's woeful performances at test level.

With scores of zero, one and four surely it's time that the dominance of New South Wales players was broken, and selectors look around the country at other batsmen from other states, who would only be too pleased to do the job.

The Cricket New South Wales' influence on test selection must cease, and a fair go be given to good cricketers from other states.

Joe Burns comes quickly to mind.
