Open season on koalas at Collingwood Park: Dodrill

PRESIDENT of Collingwood Park Koala and Wildlife Protection, Jim Dodrill said that Ipswich City Council are doing nothing to protect the koala colonies of Collingwood Park.

Over the weekend members of the suburban koala group observed koalas moving between trees in several locations around Collingwood Park.

The greatest concern was the colony which lived in Goupong Park who are exposed to attack from dogs being walked off-leash through the park as well as car strikes on Namatjira Drive.

It appears that dog owners and developers come before the lives of the remaining local koalas.

New developments are allowed to decimate areas of valuable bushland in and around Collingwood Park with complete disregard for the koala colonies and other wildlife.
