Man dead after multi-vehicle crash: Police to investigate

UPDATE: POLICE say a crash at Vale View on the Drayton Connection Road will be investigated by the Forensic Crash Unit after a man in his fifties died at the scene. 

"Initial inquiries indicate at 3.30pm a car and truck, both headed south, have collided on Drayton Connection Road near the intersection of Newman Road," police said via a media release. 

"A male passenger in the car, a man in his fifties, died at the scene.

"The driver of the car was transported to the Toowoomba Hospital in a serious condition.

"The truck driver was also taken to hospital with minor injuries."

4PM TUESDAY: FORENSIC crash unit officers are investigating a serious crash at Vale View this afternoon. 

One person is believed to have died in the collision on Drayton Connection Rd, however a police spokesman was unable to confirm details.  

The spokesman said the crash did not involve a student but until further investigations were conducted, no further details would be available.

EARLIER: EMERGENCY services are currently on scene responding to reports of a multi-vehicle crash in Vale View.

A QAS spokesman confirmed that paramedics were treating multiple patients after a crash between a truck and two cars  on the intersection of Drayton Connection Rd and Newman Rd about 3.30pm.

A police spokeswoman said officers from the forensic crash unit had been tasked to the incident and traffic diversions were now in place.

The spokeswoman confirmed one patient was trapped in a car and another person was being treated for "serious injuries".

Traffic is being diverted via the New England Highway north-bound and Sheppard Rd south-bound.

Lengthy delays are expected.
