One dead in light plane house crash

ONE PERSON has died after a light plane crashed into her suburban Melbourne home on Tuesday.

Victorian Police reported the crash at a property on The Strand in Chelsea struck the home, killing one and damaging two vehicles at the home and catching on fire on impact.

It is understood that it was the pilot of the plane who died in the crash, but authorities are yet to confirm.

Police and emergency services attended the scene in Melbourne's south-east at about 1.30pm but could not yet identify the victim.

Police reported no other people were injured at the scene, however, local media reported ambulance officers were treating one woman for minor injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
